Innovative engineering solutions for Zaporizhstal OJSC

One of the innovative engineering projects implemented by Compressors International was the delivery of compressor equipment for Zaporizhstal OJSC, the leading enterprise in the metallurgical industry of Ukraine.

The project included several stages - design, supply and commissioning of equipment.

The aim of the project is to participate in the refurbishment of the blast furnace DP-4.

To accomplish the task, Compressors International developed a phased implementation plan for the project.

The first stage of the plan included the development of project documentation. Specialists of Compressors International have developed a compressed air supply module for impulse cleaning of the aspiration system of the bunker ramp and the casting yard. The company has developed its own solution based on the sea container. All the necessary equipment was placed in this module.

The module was used equipment from leading manufacturers - Gardner Denver, Germany (air screw compressors) and Donaldson Filtration GmbH, Germany (adsorption dryers and filters).

After agreeing on the necessary documentation, the Compressors International specialists performed the internal strapping, and the installation of the draw ventilation system was carried out after the station was installed in regular places. The following equipment was installed within the project:

- Installation of equipment from the world's leading manufacturers of compressor equipment - Gardner Denver, Germany (air screw compressors) and Donaldson Filtration GmbH, Germany (adsorption dryers and filters).
- Tethered ventilation system with pre-filtration of forced air.
- The system of heating and maintaining the temperature necessary for the stable functioning of the compressor equipment.
- Fire alarm system.
- Control and monitoring system with external identification of the main processes and parameters of the compressor station.

The installation of a modular compressor station at Zaporizhstal OJSC achieved the following goals:

- localization of provision of bag filters with dried compressed air, namely, avoidance of energy-intensive centralized provision of the consumer with compressed air.
- Minimization of costs for the production of prepared compressed air.
- Ensuring the stable operation of bag filters due to the use of standard compressor equipment with standardized consumables and spare parts, the presence of which is constantly maintained in the warehouses of Compressors International.
